The red rock oasis is 116 miles north of Phoenix and showcases a unique vista of towering red rock spires spotted with green plants. The Sedona area has cacti, agave, and prickly pear plants and sits along the banks of Oak Creek. Grab your hiking trail map and bring along plenty of water, sun protection, and your camera! Boynton Canyon is a well-known area for hiking but can be congested depending on the season and time of day so it is worth considering other less-trafficked hikes if you want to avoid the crowds. Teacup Trail to Coffee Pot Rock is a kid-friendly hike that has spectacular views at the end of the out and back trail. We reserved our slot for the early morning Sedona Pink Jeep Tour to get a head start on the day and stay a little cooler. Reservations are highly recommended (even months ahead for busy tourist season) and the Pink Adventure tours also go to the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon for day trips. Mariposa is one of five Sedona restaurants in the Dahl Restaurant Group which follows Chef Lisa Dahl\u2019s mantra \u201cWhen you cook with love, you feed the soul.\u201d The Macho Supremo Salad at Mariposa combines romaine and arugula with red onions, tomatoes, chipotle Caesar dressing, gorgonzola, grilled filet mignon, and crispy shoestring potatoes for an unbelievable flavor combination. The prickly pear swizzle drink was as pretty as it was an interesting way to try the local cactus.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For American Southwestern food, try the El Rincen Restaurant in the Tlaquepaque Shopping Center.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>El Rincen has mouthwatering favorites like tacos, tamales, and enchiladas but most memorable was the Navajo pizza which uses a sopapilla crust and refried beans using red or green chile sauce (instead of red tomato sauce) which is then topped with cheese and veggies plus optional meat. It\u2019s the combination of pizza and Mexican (or in this case New Mexican) foods!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a fun outdoor eating area with a vegan and gluten-free menu, try <a href=\"https:\/\/chocolatree.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ChocolaTree<\/a> in West Sedona. You will have plenty of opportunities to buy vacation mementos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tlaquepaque is an Arts and Shopping Village with Mexican-inspired architecture featuring shops with local artists and artwork. You will find southwestern fine art paintings, bronze sculptures, and many other crafts here. Across from Tlaquepaque village is the <a href=\"https:\/\/sedonanewagestore.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Center for the New Age<\/a> if you want to get find sparkling crystals, book a psychic reading,&nbsp;or sit quietly by the bubbling creek just behind the building. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uptown Sedona has many little clothing, jewelry, snack, and souvenir shops tucked into buildings lining the main roadway which leads past the <a href=\"https:\/\/sedonaartscenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sedona Arts Center<\/a> and out to Oak Creek Canyon. It can be challenging to find parking and can be congested at times so plan accordingly.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For visitors interested in unique architecture, the Chapel of the Holy Cross. It&#8217;s a Roman Catholic chapel that is built right into the red rock. The red rocks glow with the setting sun and look like they are on fire. You can see from a high vantage point if you drive up to the Sedona airport. Yes, they have their own airport! The Sedona airport has a restaurant or you can pull over and park on the way up if you are lucky enough to find a spot. You can also go for a hike. Regardless of how you choose to take in the sunset, prepare to be spellbound as the sun sinks and the surroundings brighten with a memorable vibrance. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mommytravels.net\/how-to-use-skyscanner-to-find-cheap-flights\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"29604\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">finding cheap flights with Skyscanner<\/a>! Another option for finding deals is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-100774867-15639604\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">FlightHub<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong><em>Book a Place to Stay<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">I recommend using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stay22.com\/allez\/expedia?&amp;aid=mommytravels&amp;link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.expedia.com%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Expedia.com<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stay22.com\/allez\/hotelscom?&amp;aid=mommytravels&amp;link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hotels.com%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Hotels.com<\/a> for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with <a href=\"https:\/\/prf.hn\/click\/camref:1100luTrN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Marriott<\/a> when I stay there because of their excellent military discount. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stay22.com\/allez\/vrbo?&amp;aid=mommytravels&amp;link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vrbo.com%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">VRBO<\/a>. If you are looking for a hostel, I use <a href=\"https:\/\/hostelworld.tp.st\/NhhmXq0A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HostelWorld<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong><em>Choose Activities and Tours<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">To find great activities in any area I use <a class=\"ads noskim\" href=\"https:\/\/www.viator.com\/?pid=P00095795&amp;mcid=42383&amp;medium=link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>Viator<\/strong><\/a>. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdoqocy.com\/click-3447064-11554803?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.citypass.com%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">CityPass<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pogopass.com?affiliate_code=mommytravels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PogoPass<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/prf.hn\/click\/camref:1100luTpZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">GoCard<\/a> to see if they have discount cards available. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-100774867-15523952\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Groupon<\/strong><\/a> also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-normal-font-size\">When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use <a class=\"ads noskim\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tourradar.com\/sales\/weekly-deals?utm_source=partner-mommy-travels&amp;utm_medium=text&amp;utm_campaign=general\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">TourRadar<\/a>.
