I first discovered Port St. Joe back in 2008 when we were stationed at a nearby&nbsp;air force base. Spend a day at the Beach<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The perfect place to swim, play, and enjoy the sun is in St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in Cape San Blas. Here you will find 9.5 miles of snow-white sand beaches lapped by clear, aqua-blue waters. St. Joseph Peninsula State Park one of the best beaches in the nation. While you are there you may just find a massive sand dollar or catch a breathtaking sunset.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Fish\"><\/span>2. Fish<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mommytravels.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/fish.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>In Gulf County visitors can fish for all kinds of goodies, including sea trout, redfish, flounder, Spanish mackerel,&nbsp;whiting, pompano, blue crabs and bay scallops.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Scalloping\"><\/span>3. Scalloping<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Did you know there was such thing as a scallop season?&nbsp;The 2018 season for St. Joseph Bay is August 17th through September 30th.<\/p>\n<p>Scalloping is a fun activity the whole family can participate in. It\u2019s easy for beginners and doesn\u2019t require much more than a saltwater fishing license and a mandatory dive flag. You can snorkel to find them or wade out from the shore, look for the myriad of glowing blue eyes along the edge of their shells, and scoop them up.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Shelling\"><\/span>4. Shelling<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>365 days a year you will find fantastic seashells ripe for the picking. No one leaves empty handed! Boating<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Sailing windsurfing, leisure boating, parasailing and jet skiing are also popular ways to explore the Gulf of Mexico.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Kayak_and_Canoe\"><\/span>5. Horseback Riding<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are several places in the area that offer horseback riding tours. You can horseback ride through the soft sand and even go at night for a moonlight ride.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Paddleboarding\"><\/span>7. Paddleboarding<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are lots of places in Gulf County to paddleboard. You will find rentals available in&nbsp;Port St. Joe, WindMark Beach, St. Joe Beach, and&nbsp;Cape San Blas. Paddleboarding is easy enough that pretty much anyone can do it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8_Watch_the_Sunset\"><\/span>8. Eat Fresh Gulf Seafood<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You have to eat seafood during your Gulf County vacation where&nbsp;fresh shrimp, oysters, and Grouper is abundant. Many of the restaurants will even cook whatever fish you may have caught during the day.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11_Eat_Donuts\"><\/span>11. Eat Donuts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On vacation, you need to eat a donut or two or three. Snorkeling<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The beaches here tend to be relatively shallow, providing opportunities for epic photos of the reefs and tropical fish.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"14_Scuba_Diving\"><\/span>14. Scuba Diving<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For divers, there 463-foot long Empire Mica is a British Tanker sunk by a German sub during World War II, and considered one of Florida\u2019s best wreck dives, at 108 feet deep.
